TAYLORVILLE has a new vendor............and the food SUX...........

The prices are somewhat reasonable, in comparison, to everywhere else.......

But.......I WANT MY GOOD PIZZA BACK................

I visited on Sunday........and there was nothing to drink........out of like 7 machines, only 4 or 5 of them were working........The machine with the best food in it, was FULL, becuase it wasn't working............. nono
The guards (actually nice of them)  told me they called the company to report most of the machines down, but the person they talked to was not allowed in the facility yet,,,,,and wasn't sure where it was located, but would see what they could do...... hmmmmm

Just got back from Menard they were taking in the new machines when I left.  You purchase a new card for $5.00 and the actual cost of the card is only $2.00 and it puts the other $3.00 on the card for spending. Couldn't buy one today. The old machines had very little left in them, we ate things today that we never ate before.

New Machines are in, the food selection is a little less at least today, cost up slightly. Everyone watch your cards the machines were wiping them out today you really have to read the directions. I was hoping for more salads and more good sandwiches. but I didn't get it. (>(

Do they still have breakfast sandwiches?
I was there last tues (20th) and I see they
was putting in a soda machine, are they like $3.00 a bottle??
They took both the microwaves and only put one in, is
that still the same?
Now we have to wait in line even longer to heat up our food!

The desk sergeant told me on the phone that the pops are $1.50/bottle. I didn't ask about microwaves. That'll be just great if they only have one.

They only had the one, they even have a special
little table for it at the end of the macines, with
spots for all the condiments.  Unless they add
a extra table down by the trash cans thats it....

Welcome meli.  You might want to take a minute to visit a welcome thread started for you.  To answer your question my man ate a lot...I would put on $30 at visits and usually there would be about $10 left.  But I would snack with him too.  $20 is probably plenty if you both plain on eating something.  Some others that have visited the Ville more recently might know if the prices have gone up lately.  An average sandwich is about $3 to $4 dollars....pop is $1.50 I think.  Ice cream used to be over $2.00.  C'mon S'ville gals...what's the going rate now?

I used to put  $20 on the card meli for 2 of us.   chicken wings are  $3,  pop maybe $1.25.   Sandwiches run about  $3.  When you're lucky  the ice cream machine is working and those prices are from about  $2.25 to $2.75.  They do have popcorn,  and coffee.  Oh and the machine on the far left,  that looked like it sold orange pop,  has orange juice.   I always drank orange juice there and I think it was just $1.25.   I  was last there last July.   Dress conservatively!

twenty bucks is a good estimate.  My card always has some money on it and every visit i throw on twenty.  So typically I have about 30 on it...That way I have a cushion.  And if i have extra on the card, then if I am low on cash when its time for a visit I dont have to worry.

I never eat the food there.  I dont like the food at all.  plus It is silly for me to send money on that crap,  I just bring fruit and nuts in my car.  I eat a banana before the visit.  If during I feel hungry I get a bottle of water.

There is some good news for HILL!  Yesteday they had Blimpie subs in the machines.  They were on good bread and were really decent.  My boyfriend was so happy since he likes to eat healthy.

I'd appreciate some help identifying the companies that service our various prisons.  This might be a prison-by-prison decision or it might be by District.

Would you each check for the name of the company and the name on your vending cards when you visit next and post them in here?

For an example, Stateville used to contract its vending through Canteen Corp.  Not sure if they are still using them.

Also, for those that may not have seen the topic started by Foreverinluv about becoming ill from vending food at Danville and the pending lawsuit.....have any of you become ill on any food?

Teledude..if you use these machines could you make a mental note of the name of the service and the debit card used?

My Fiance's sister went to visit him at Menard on Sunday 02/25/2007
she says the new machines are in and working. She says the food
has went up and the cards are tricky to be careful.
I didn't get a full report like what kind of foods and what
company it was.  I was there the day the new company was bringing
in the new machines but I cannot think of the name to save my life!
It might come to me later, if not IL be going this Sunday.

As of my November 2006 visit, Canteen Corp still serviced the Ville.

Were they full and what about prices? We are going to Menard's March 27 and just needed to know that we probably will need a new card.

I will am headed to Menard this Sunday so I will give
everyone a update on prices and selection our
new machines have.  Im already hearing if you dont
take the card out of the machine at the right time
when a light comes off it wipes your card totally
out of money....  sounds like they put the old ones back
in, huh... lol

Does anyone know if Dixon has the old cards or the new ?  Because it kind of sounds like it's got the new ones.
