The number of permanent party residents varies. Currently there are 2 for maintanence, and 6 for the kitchen. The kitchen workers go up and down. Aramark has the contract for the PATC and runs the kitchen.... some guys who have less time sign a 3 moth contract. It is normally a 6 month contract for PP. They make $200 a month and can't progress past Level 2.
The PATC has been ramping up the number of PPer's lately though as the PATC is about to be maxed out due to the closing of DATC and the transfer of some resident to the PATC.

There are no set number of positions. Especially to work in the kitchen.

Thanks so much fromcolorado.  My husband is trying to get on as a PP at PATC and the information that you provided is incredibly helpful.

fromcolorado, these bids for PP are only 3-6 months, can they then go into the work release program or are they sent back to their parent prison?

We have talked about this before on IPT, but since it's early and I am having  :wc72: not quite  awake yet  :wc15:  I thought I'd ask you since it is pertinent in this topic.    I will try to look for the other topic too and post the link here.  Thank you!

When a PPer finishes his contract, he stays at the center and goes into the normal work release routine. It is normally a way for someone to get to an ATC a little earlier than he otherwise would, as you can apply for PP with 33 months left instead of 27. You can NOT transfer until you have 30 months left however.

The PATC is taking in 2 more PPer's today.

They are adding 2 positions to the 8 that they already have filled, or are there 2 vacancies within the 8 positions that already exist?  In other words, are they increasing the number of PP positions to 10 or are they filling 2 vacancies within the 8 positions that already exist?  You are an amazing source of knowledge for this topic, fromcolorado.  Thanks for your patience in answering my questions.

They are adding 2 more... A couple guys just finished their contracts, and need to be replaced. The PATC will be maxed out at around 248 residents soon. To prepare enough food they need a couple more workers.

Like I said before, there are no set numbers. If they want to add more, they can at anytime. The kitchen PPer's work a 5 day schedule with 2 days off. When they work, they do all 3 meals Mon-Fri. Sat-Sun is just 2 meals because they do "brunch".

There have been no intakes for several weeks now at the PATC. They are trying to clear enough bed space to bring people from DATC.

My husband is being transferred to PATC as a Permanent Party.  Since I am on his approved visitor/phone list from PATC's parent institution (Jacksonville), do we still have to wait for these lists to be approved at PATC or does the approval transfer over?  Is Consolidated still the phone provider or does he use quarters at a pay phone in the center?  What can I bring him and can I drop it off the day before his transfer, or should I wait until the day he is moved?  How often do PPers get to go to Walmart and do they use their trust funds to pay for their purchases, or can I drop off a Walmart gift card with his personal effects?  I also read in an earlier post that a PPer can't progress PAST level 2, but does that mean that they can get to level 2 and receive the privileges associated with this level?  Sorry for all of the questions but we are ecstatic about this transfer and just want to make sure that we have all of the pertinent information.

Congrats on the transfer... The phone list will transfer, but the visiting list will not. He will make a new one when he gets there. Yes, Consolidated is still the provider. There are no pay phones there for inmate use. You can bring his clothes and some sundries. No food. You can also give him 1 roll of quarters. The visit will be brief...PPer's can go to Walmart 2X a month. The can request funds from their trust fund. You can also send them up to a $100 WalMart gift card.

PPers can not go past Level 2, but they do get the those privileges. Things change all the time at the PATC, so be prepared to have rules change with no notice. Feel free to ask any other questions, and good luck to him.

Congrats on making it to the PATC. You will be allowed a 5-10 minute visit to drop clothes, cd player, shoes, things like that. You can give him $10 in quarters. He will be able to go to Walmart for 30 min on the next Saturday to buy some things. It will be an escorted trip. You can give him a $100 Walmart gift card. Do not put money on his books before, as it takes a little to transfer... Good luck and tell him not to screw around. Halfacre doesn't mess around.

I need HELP. there was an earlier post about them giving an inmate at peoria ATC  an extra 7 hours on top of his 48 hour pass. My l/o has come home twice but we are having trouble finding a way to get him back within the alloted time. i work a lot and the Amtrak only travels from champaign to carbondale twice daily. He then takes a bus to peoria. if anyone knows any info about them giving extra travel time please help

The best thing to do, is have your LO ask Peoria ATC about this so that he knows the exact rules and doesn't get in trouble for something he thinks is OK.

I'm surprised that you have to go through carbondale to get to peoria!  That seems like a lot of lost time due to travel :(

Lori: we live in carbondale. i meant he rides the Amtrak from here to champaign. Peoria is only a 4and a half hour trip from here. But with the way the schedule is it takes 8 hours to travel each way!

That really stinks :(  For some reason, I thought I had heard once that the train runs through Bloomington???  That wouldn't be great either, but could help shave a little time off.

There are a lot of guys who go from Peoria to southern Illinois for their ccl passes.  Most double up rides and split the gas money.  Have your loved one ask around and see who lives down south that he could car pool with.  As far as the extra 7 hours, that was a family emergency, not likely to be approved.  But he could talk to Halfacre.  You never know what she is going to do.  Good luck

One of the places I work is right down the street from the Peoria ATC.  Its actually downtown Peoria and directly across the street from the Peoria Civic Center where many of the men work.  My son used to work at the Civic Center setting up the stage, changing it out to the basketball arena, hockey ice, etc..

Hi Sissy12 and all.  I am also looking for any updated info regarding the Peoria ATC.  It looks like the last time any info was posted was several years ago.  My son is supposed to be transferring here from Shawnee as soon as they have an opening, and was just wondering if anyone on here has a lo there currently and may have some tips/sugestions/general information?

Thanks!
