I've been to a few different prisons in Illinois but not Danville. But at other places and probably Danville too it goes like this.  He arrives there and gets put in receiving for a few days to a week.  After that he will be transferred to a housing unit.  If he doesn't have a phone list or pin number it could be a few weeks before he can use the phone.  If he does have a pin and your number is on his list then you should be hearing from him soon.

My brother in law was at both facilities. He said Danville is a clean facility and the COs are smooth (whatever that means). Maybe nicer and not strict.

Hello, my names Jacqueline but I go by Jaci. And my boyfriends in Danville, and I was wondering about their mail system and if I can send typed letters, because I just had brain surgery on Oct 31st, 2018. And I can hardly write at all but I'm very good at typing. Please let me know thank you!

Yes, I am, the only problem was that I was sending colored photos, and I guess they are not accepting them anymore. Which sucks, because I always used to send them to him.

Make sure you put your l/o's number on the envelope or it will get returned.  Also be prepared for a long wait in the waiting room.  We waited an hour and the other visitors said that's not uncommon at all.  One said they waited 4 hours "when the system went down".  And they told me don't be surprised to wait 45 min. for your l/o once you get in the back room.  No hats, scarves or watches.  I think it was 50 cents for a locker.  I was able to leave a couple of books at the front window but not a crossword puzzle book.  Took that to the car because another visitor told me they probably wouldn't allow me to put it in a locker.
