Fee Changes
« on: April 04, 2016, 07:40:47 AM »
My LO said there is a memo posted that the charges for the phone were changed as of March 16. I checked my account and they did. Instead of being charged a flat rate for any amount of minutes they are charging $3.85 to connect and then a per minute fee. I noticed that if you talk for 15 minutes or less it is a lesser amount but not much. Anything over the 16 minutes is the regular flat rate fee.

Trauma have you checked lately? It has always been a flat rate for me also, but it did change a few weeks ago. I mean it's just a few cents cheaper if it's not a ful call but every penny helps.

Ok thanks

Since March 22nd he's called three times.

6 minutes 3.94
13 minutes 4.05
18 minutes 4.08

Many times I simply can't talk the full 30 minutes.   We are very fortunate in that we visit frequently

So they are going to start charging $3.95 to connect and then 15 cents a minute?  My son said a memo came across his TV. Why? That is outrageous!!! Its hard enough paying the cost to visit, now this who can afford it? I can't..

DRM87,
Where is your son located? I haven't spoken to my l/o in over a month (he is on C-grade so no phone calls permitted) but I guess I want to be prepared when he is able to start using the telephones again. *sigh* And did your son mention when this new fee/pricing will be implemented? Thanks for any addition information you can provide!

The fee changes are for in state calls, the flat rate ones. The calls are not going up. The flat rate is only applying to calls 16 min or over. If you talk less than that it is a little cheaper than the normal rate.

So are you saying we are not going to be charged $3.95 just to connect the call? Also if we talk more than 30 minutes we get charged 15 cents there after wards?

Yea it's a $3.95 fee to connect but it's not .15 per minute afterward I'm not sure the exact amount. My flat rate is $4.08 for a 30 minute call. If we talk under 15 min it's lower instead of 1 minute or 30 minute costing the $4.08. If you look further up the post from trauma she posted the different amounts she was being charged. It's not a lot of savings but every penny counts!!
