« on: June 04, 2014, 06:05:21 PM »
Good Evening:

Wondering what work camps people would consider "best option" when trying to earn good time/ go to school/ and have opportunities....my son will be eligible next week and we are wondering which one offers the most...non violent first time offender...need some advice and information...

Thanks so much for the support we receive from this site.....a real blessing!!

I have moved this post to the IDOC ATC board, you can read up on the work release centers the IDOC runs on this board.

Your inmate has to apply, but don't be surprised if he is denied the first time, as there are many more inmates that apply than are accepted, there aren't enough ATC's to go around.

They are basically all the same, if you want him to go to one closer to your area, then have him apply to that one first and the others if he needs to give a 2nd or 3rd choice.

He has to be two years short to apply for regular and I think  2 1/2 years short of getting out to apply as a worker.  He will not earn anymore time off of his sentence by going into an ATC.

All the information you/he will need is on this board explaining the procedures and rules.
