May this man RIP and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Inmate found dead in cell at southern Illinois prison

2 hours ago  •  Associated Press

MENARD, Ill.  • An inmate serving time for murder has been found dead in his cell at a prison in southwestern Illinois.

Illinois Department of Corrections spokesman Tom Shaer says the 30-year-old man died in an apparent suicide and was found Monday afternoon with a bed sheet around his neck.

The Randolph County Coroner was on the scene.

The prisoner was not immediately being identified by name pending notification of his family.

He was serving a 40-year sentence for murder and was housed in a single-person cell.

Shaer says there was nothing in man's behavior to indicate he was at risk of harming himself.

My heart breaks for him and especially for his family and friends.  May God give them the strength to get through this and also strength to all the inmates who face such depression.

I just can't imagine how awful it was for him, and now is for his family.

For anyone to be in a single cell in IDOC right now, I'd think it meant that they knew he had serious problems.  I just wonder how hard they were working to address them?  I hope I'm wrong and that they had really done everthing they could.
