My Treasures!

« on: March 25, 2008, 10:09:23 PM »

Does anyone know if there is a rule that they can't have hardcover books.  My h wants me to send him a Bible, and we were discussing types and prices, and he thought they couldn't have hardcover books as he has never seen one.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Thanks!

I am the new Mod for this topic. I've deleted posts and put the CC and info on the first post. If you see your prison not there let me know the answer or if the ones that are listed are wrong, let me know. The orginal post is old but the info is current. The answers are given by members here.

I will be checking on Wed. by phone on prisons that isn't noted above or I don't hear from members on current status of the hard cover books.  I dated the ones that have been posted lately.

That is correct.  My l/o ordered one by mistake, and was given the option of returning it to the company, sending it home, or destroying it.  They wouldn't even allow the cover to be removed.

Menard is allowing hardcover books again. Long story short, earlier this month a seller I ordered from online sent me a hardcover book by mistake. Visited 2 days later and asked if hardcover books were allowed again. Yes they are. Brought the book with me the following week and he got the book 2 days later.

Just wish that place would make up it's mind.

I just found that out as well, and was about to post it.  C told me to order him a book, I found out it was hardcover only and didn't order it.  Well, I mentioned that to him on the phone the other night and he acted like I should have known that they recalled the ban on hardcover books.  Apparently they recalled it a few months ago, and the news never hit IPT.

Thanks for the update. When I called they were not allowing them, but that was quite a while ago.

Jacksonville allows hard back books to be dropped off or mailed.

In Centralia, hard backs are only allowed if mailed.  Something about drop offs going through property, and mail ins go through the mail room.  I recently tried to drop off a sketch book, but they said it had to be mailed.  Mailed it, he got it the next day.  Silly!  But at least I know.  They are alot cheaper at WalMart than DickBlick.

Vandalia DOES NOT allow hardcover. Mailroom said yes, but when we mailed it, our l/o was told nope.
