My LO is in Sheridan with 2 months left.  He was told that he would have to go to a half way house.  The counselors decide this.  It is not an option of "yes I want to go" or "no I do not".  That said, my LO has a job waiting for him and it is no where near any of the half way houses.  My LO was told to get a letter ON LETTER HEAD from the company stating that the job is waiting for his release, AND that the letter has to be notarized.  We did this.  My LO is paroling to our house.  And, they DO check.

Just FYI    :wc1:

Thatz awesome Seaturtle!  My LO is going to a halfway house 3 hours away from home I don't understand why they would help him get a job so far from home.  Odds are they aren't gonna keep jobs that are that far from home.  He has several options for jobs around here an even someone helpen him get a job 45 min from where we live.  But he HAS to go to this place that is rediculously far away so he can get a job he isn't going to keep. Don't make sense to me.  He gets released in less than 2 weeks so we won't have time to by pass the outcome of where he goes!

Just look on the board you posted this on.

My husband was just told he has to go to a rehab house yesterday after being told for a month he would most likely be coming home. We are so upset because there is nothing anywhere around K3. Is there anyone I can call or write to see if he can't come home and do whatever outpatient care he has to do. We will not make it thru another winter without income from him finding a job we have lost everything now. I am just trying to keep the utilities on. The counselor had it in for him for sure. I can't see him now because of money and they asked him where he wanted to go did not give him a list but a few were Rockford, Peoria or Harvey all to far I will never see him and he won't be able to drive either and he will probably get hurt if he goes to Harvey.  I hope u can help with some answers. I don't know what I am going to do. Thanks Judy

My LO is at Pinckneyville and he would call me collect at least once a week or I would get a short letter. When I last talked to him he said he put in a request to see a doctor because he was having pain in his chest area. That was on Oct 20,2011. Since then I have not heard from him. No letters, No phone calls. It's not like him and I am worried. Is there any way I can find out if he is alright? His projected parole date is 12/27/11 and I was suppose to sign something for him to be released here. The parole officer never showed up after contacting me at 10:15 on a Sunday night. I called back, left messages with my phone number. No response. Pinckneyville said it was approved. The parole officer also said he would be under house arrest for 120 days. Frustrated because I have questions and no one to answer them. Any help would be appreciated

If it's customary to have heard from him by now and he was complaining of illness then you might give his counselor a call and find out if he's in the infirmary for any reason.  Although they have an emergency contact # they rarely notify family if there's a problem...usually Field Services sends a letter asking you if the inmate will be allowed to parole to your house.  Then the parole officer may or may not visit your home for a quick inspection...to see the location, etc.  He's still got a month or so before parole so there's plenty of time...hopefully all is well and he'll be home before you know it....

Good Evening All

Well my the journey is almost complete. My LO is located at Sherdian and his couselors is great. They did give him an option of where he wanted to go. They told him they really want the men to start paroling to home. The prison system is over crowded and can not afford to send them to half-way homes. So my LO couselor is really pushing him for an address. I am moving so he does not have one quite yet. He explained to her that he needs to go to a half-way house for at least 3 months, she agree so we are now in the process of picking a great location. I have found one in the area we live at, but are not sure if he can go there. It's located in Elmwood Park, IL I would like to check to see, he will talk to his couselor tomorrow as well to check. He is 13 months away from coming home, and hopefully they will reinstate the good time! thanks for all the post! dabearss

My LO is currently at sheridan as well with 13 months left and they havnt said anything to him about parole yet. Im suprized they are getting his parole plans in line.. So they did give him an option on whether to parole home or a halfway house?

Some prisons get started earlier that others. They will let him know or he can ask when he should put in his parole plan..

My LO speaks to her and him about everything and they have approached him about it. So I guess because he applied to go for work release. But they have discussed this with him at length. My LO dont like to ask questions, but they always talk to him about where he wants to go home to. I know the counselor was encourging him to go dwnstate IL.
